Eligibility & Team Formation

Team Size: Teams must consist of 3 to 5 members. All team members must be registered participants of IslanderHack.

Originality: Projects must be started from scratch at the official hackathon start time. Pre-existing code, mock-ups, or designs are prohibited, except for publicly available libraries, APIs, and boilerplate templates.
The Submission
The judging process uses a rapid, Science Fair Style demo. Projects are judged based on their submission materials and live prototype.
Mandatory Submission Requirements:

Public GitHub Repository Link: Must contain the complete source code.

Demo Video Link: A 2–3 minute video demonstrating features and functionality, hosted publicly (e.g., YouTube, Google Drive).

Project Description: A final written statement (via README.md) covering the problem solved, technologies used, and future plans.
Required Qualification:

Project Submission: All three mandatory items must be submitted via Devpost before the Submission Deadline (Code Freeze) to be eligible for judging.
Judging Criteria
Judges will score projects equally across four categories:

Innovation: The novelty and originality of the idea.

Technicality: The complexity of the technology and proficiency in its implementation.

Impact: The potential benefit and feasibility of the solution for the South Texas community.

Presentation: The clarity and effectiveness of the pitch and demo, to be given in-person.
Final Determination: The top-scoring projects will advance to a final discussion round where the judges will determine the single overall prize winner.
